Március 15-e az egyik legfontosabb nemzeti ünnep Magyarországon. Ezen a napon megemlékezünk az 1848–49-es forradalomról és szabadságharcról. Magyarország ekkor még a Habsburg Birodalom része volt: 1848–49-ben a magyarok a szabadságukért harcoltak (sajnos sikertelenül). A szabadságharc 1848. március 15-én kezdődött. Ezen a napon a forradalmárok Pesten a Pilvax kávéházban gyűltek össze: itt írták meg a forradalom követeléseit, azaz a 12 pontot. Később a Nemzeti Múzeum előtt felolvasták a követeléseiket, és Petőfi Sándor elszavalta a Nemzeti dalt, amely a forradalom szimbóluma lett. Ezen a napon kokárdát tűzünk ki, és ünnepélyeken emlékezünk meg a forradalom hőseiről.

15 March is one of the most important national holidays in Hungary. On this day, we commemorate the 1848-49 revolution and the fight for freedom. Hungary was still part of the Habsburg Empire at the time: in 1848-49, the Hungarians fought for their freedom (unfortunately unsuccessfully). The fight for freedom began on 15 March 1848. On that day, the revolutionaries gathered in the Pilvax Café in Pest, where they wrote down the demands of the revolution, the 12 points. Later, they read out their demands in front of the National Museum and Sándor Petőfi recited the National Song, which became the symbol of the revolution. On this day, we put up cockades and commemorate the heroes of the Revolution in ceremonies.
